The Grand Hotel Front Porch – The Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island is a historical landmark that’s been in business since 1887. Its old-world charm will take you back in time. At 660 feet long, the front porch is the largest in the world. Views of the island from the porch are amazing, and it’s a great place to relax on a summer afternoon. Fort Mackinac – This fully restored colonial fort hearkens back to the days when Mackinac Island was controlled by the French. St. Anne’s Catholic Church – This sacred church building was built on Mackinac Island in 1874. Its tall spire can be seen towing above the island from several vantage points. The world’s fifth-largest suspension bridge links Michigan’s Upper and Lower Peninsulas over the Straits of Mackinac, where Lake Michigan and Lake Huron meet.

Since motorized vehicles are prohibited on the island, horse-drawn carriages and bicycles are built for two pass by regularly. For years my family rented cottages in Northern Michigan for our vacations. We crossed the bridge when it was completed and my dad walked it year after year. We loved the Lake Michigan area north of Harbor Springs and rented cottages in that area. That is still my favorite place to visit.
I have never been to Michigan, but if I come someday I will be visiting these places 100%
