At the east arm of Lake Charlevoix is Boyne City, where unique specialty shops, art galleries featuring local artists, and delicious dining choices along the shoreline await your arrival. Only ten minutes away is Boyne Mountain, offering some of the Midwest’s best skiing. Celebrate the annual Morel Mushroom Festival each spring and take part in the competitive sport of mushroom hunting around the area’s forests. In the summer, water sports activities abound, highlighted each year by the Boyne Thunder offshore boat races.

Across the lake is Charlevoix, a small town bustling with activity during the peak seasons. The Pine River Channel drawbridge connects the city separated where Lake Charlevoix flows into Lake Michigan. The bridge rises each half hour for sailboats and larger ships including the ferry leading across to adventure on Beaver Island. Charlevoix also hosts the popular Venetian Festival each summer and has many concerts in the outdoor waterfront Performance Pavilion.
